Ease into the morning in company of artist, Josh Moulton. Known for his style of photo-realism and urban landscape painting, Josh is drawn to architecture and its interaction with nature, as well as the effects that nature has on man-made objects.

Today, Josh treats us to a live demo as he paints an iconic Chicago drinking establishment, the Old Town Ale House. While he works, he will discuss approach, technique, and process. In the end he’ll produce a beautiful 18” x 24” acrylic on watercolor paper original piece of art.

Ale House owner, Tobin Mitchell and long-time staffer, Tim Polk, will also join us and share insight into the bar’s history and place in Chicago tavern culture.

Josh Moulton is a Chicago based artist. While he’s been painting his entire life, he’s recently began using his painting as a medium for social commentary, wanting the viewer to spend time asking questions about why he did certain things with each piece. Josh draws inspiration, talent, and technique from his father, Conrad Moulton, an advertising illustrator, and painter who built a successful career that spanned more than half a century.
