In 2019 we partnered with the world renowned Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle, Washington, to create our second national exhibition. A very special collaboration, this delicious and innovative art exhibition celebrated the relationship between beer and glass.
Beer + Glass was a month-long art exhibition at Pilchuck’s downtown Seattle gallery and featured modern interpretations of historic beer glassware styles and showcased a collection of work by Victoria Ahmadizadeh, DH McNabb, Michael Schunke, Ed Schmid, and Tyler Gordon. Each artist was assigned a historic beer vessel style by beer expert and Beer Culture Center National Advisory Board Member, Randy Mosher and was then asked to interpret and fabricate a set of 20 glasses. Tyler Gordon’s abstract sculptural interpretations of glass bottles was featured on Pilchuck’s gallery walls. Guests and patrons were then able to purchase the art.
In honor of this creative collaboration, our friends at Pike Brewing Company in Seattle and Forbidden Root Brewery in Chicago brewed up a one time, limited edition beer to commemorate the occasion. The lemon Hefeweizen, playfully called Collaborade, honored a historic style of beer with its very own glassware.
Exhibition Reception + Opening

The official opening of Beer + Glass featured a brief conversation with artists and representatives from Pilchuck Glass School and the Beer Culture Center (Chicago Brewseum).
Guests enjoyed the release of Collaborade, a special collaboration beer crafted by Pike Brewing Company in Seattle and Forbidden Root Brewing. The one time, limited edition beer was released in Chicago on August 15th and in Seattle on September 5th in conjunction with this exhibition and partnership.
Beer + Glass: A Field Trip to Pilchuck Glass School, Stanwood WA

A rare opportunity to visit and explore the Pilchuck Glass School campus through the lens of beer.
Guests enjoyed beer while Pilchuck Executive Director, Chris Taylor, provided a brief tour of the campus which was followed by a beercentric glass blowing demo by American Master Glassblower (and home brewer) Ed Schmid. An exploration of the main campus building included a talk by Beer Culture Center (Chicago Brewseum) Executive Director, Liz Garibay alongside beer expert, Randy Mosher, who discussed the sensory relationship between beer and glass.
