Take an exclusive look at the newest exhibition at the Detroit Historical Museum in Detroit, Michigan, Detroit’s Brewing Heritage. Join Detroit Historical Society Senior Curator Joel Stone for a look into the exhibition and history lesson, outlining how Detroit’s brewing scene has developed since its first brewer, Joseph Parent, arrived in 1706. Following the tour, Stone will be joined by beer industry professional Kristy-Melquist Smith to give an update on Detroit’s brewing legacy today and answer any questions.

Joel Stone is the Senior Curator at the Detroit Historical Society, which oversees and operates the Detroit Historical Museum and the Dossin Great Lakes Museum. Joel is a native Detroiter, dedicated to telling Detroit’s stories and why they matter.

 Kristy Melquist-Smith has had the fortune to be a part of the Michigan beer scene for over 17 years and the craft brewing industry for almost 19 years.  She has served as a bartender, packager, sales manager and owner, combining her business skills with passion for the beer industry. She is currently the North East Sales Manager for the Erie Brewing Company in Erie, Pennsylvania.
