Beer History Week is a celebration beginning with the Beer Culture Summit, continuing with daily programming from colleagues around the country, and concluding with Ales Through The Ages, presented by our friends at Colonial Williamsburg.

BEER HISTORY WEEK: DAY 3

We’ve teamed up with our friends at Carillon Brewing Company in Dayton, OH for a historical brew day, celebrating the role of women in brewing history.

Female staff members of Carillon Historical Park will be taking the lead to bring to life an 1831 Wind Malt Coriander Ale. Family Receipts Or Practical Guide for the Husbandman and Housewife, published in 1831, is the source they use to recreate this recipe. They will be crafting this special edition of their Coriander Ale on the period equipment in Carillon’s 1850's brewery using locally produced wind-malt, coriander seed, and hops, grown in their project gardens. They’ll also be opening up the active brew house to the public for the day to allow guests to get a closer look at the process.

Head Brewer Kyle Spears, Lead Brewer Dan Lauro, and Living History Specialist Rachael Spears will be on site all day to chat about all things beer history.  And thanks to technology, they will be checking in to the Live Stream we’re making happen at the top of each hour to answer any questions from the virtual crowd.

Special guest Caleb Michalke from Sugarcreek Malt Co.  and Advanced Cicerone and Award Winning Beer Writer, David Nilsen will be special guests with more guests announced soon!

This event is FREE. Food and drink will be available for purchase on site. Times listed are Central Standard Time.
