Kick off Pride weekend and gather with us for a special screening of The Lesbian Bar Project, a short documentary Executive produced by Lea DeLaria (Orange is the New Black) and co-directed by Erica Rose and Elina Street.

In the 1980s there were roughly 200 lesbian bars in the U.S., today that number is fewer than 25. As the bars continue to disappear at a staggering rate, Co-Directors Erica Rose and Elina Street established The Lesbian Bar Project, a documentary and fundraising campaign dedicated to celebrating, supporting and preserving the remaining lesbian bars that exist in the United States. The project is supported by Jägermeister #savethenight.

The 20-minute film aims to tell the personal stories of the lesbian bar owners, patrons and community activists who have been working tirelessly to save the sacred spaces in their local communities over the past year. The film spotlights their hopes for the future, but also takes a look back at the safe spaces that influenced the queer community throughout history.

The screening takes place in the private brewery area of Metropolitan Brewing and includes Metro beers. Immediately following the screening, co-directors Erica Rose and Elina Street will join us via Zoom for Q&A.

$25 ticket includes:

  • Film Screening (begins promptly at 7:30pm).

  • Post screening Q&A with Co-Directors.

  • Delicious Metropolitan beers during the event.

  • Philanthropy! A portion of proceeds benefit the Chicago Brewseum.

  • Philanthropy again! A portion of proceeds benefit the Lesbian Bar Project.
